Spirituality From My Kitchen Table

CB101044Do you take your cup of Spirituality black or with a little cream and sugar? Really, do you feel you can commune with God/the Universe anywhere you are, at any time, in any stance, facing any direction? Or, do you feel you must draw a particular symbol, make this chant, count those beads, light candles, kneel facing a certain direction, and only do these things at a particular time of day?

While these are requirements for different religions, I’m suggesting they are merely triggers in our own minds and we do these things to put ourselves in a place and state of meditation and communion with the greatest energy of all. None of it amounts to a hill of beans in the grand scheme or magnitude of the cosmos we exist in.

There are postures that may allow for better energy flow. There are focuses that will command our attention better during meditation. There are definitely points on our bodies which, when palpated, allow us to access and release our deep-seated emotions.

Are we able to create our own spiritual space and regimen? Does our omni-everything God actually mind how we worship and does that have to be all in the same manner? I personally do not believe in sacrifice, but there are those who do. Have they come to that on their own, or have they been led there by others?

I have come to the knowledge that there is an energy exchange that goes on in everything we do. Our Universe is made of energy and for one bit of energy to change place, another energy must be moved. Heat exchange, motion exchange, my sixth grade children are learning that.

This is why some Reiki healers charge for their services. There must be an energy exchange equitable to the outcome desired. I believe Jesus made the same statement and in as many different ways as he possibly could so that every person would understand. If we want everything – eternity – then we must give up the now and all the paraphrenalia in it; give ourselves up to loving and helping others and maintaining no property in order to access the great beyond. None of our stuff is going to fit through the eye of that needle anyway.

My belief is that we should make or take the time to consider these things. I mean really analyze what the nitty gritty of our existence is about. What do we really know?

I’m so happy science is catching up to our imaginations. What we are finding out is pointing toward God more and more. Quantum Physics, string theory, quarks and smaller, particles in two places at one time, expanding universe, and our very own, personalized, mini big-bang; what more could we want to wrap our minds around?

Oooo, ooooo, I know, I want to feel God. What can I do that makes me feel closer to God when I finally come to the conclusion that God is everywhere and everything and we are all part of that? If I know that I am made in the image of God (does that word mean the “imagination” of God?), then I am a creator too and can create my existence any way I desire. If it makes me feel right when I light a candle and sit in a particular chair, then I’ll do that. If I want to draw a symbol over a person’s body before laying on hands because that puts my mind in the proper mode for energy exchange, then I’ll do that too. If I forgot to draw that symbol or can’t be in that chair, I will know that I can create my space anywhere and anyhow I desire because God is in me and everywhere; the energy exists no matter what.

So, sometimes, yes, I take my Spirituality with a little bit of cream, but hardly ever any sugar. When it comes down to the grinds or leaves, though, black is what it’s all about. Everything else is just enhancement that we common folk may or may not have time or inclination for. So don’t put off Spirituality because you think it takes more thought, time, or energy than you have. You have every second of every day and, no matter what you are doing, intend it to be for the highest good of all. I’m heading into my kitchen right now for a big ol’ cup, care for some?
