I don’t mind telling you that even though raw juices may leave a coating on the inside of your cup, and people look askance at the colorful mustaches you wear on your top lip, they are sooo delicious, really!  Here’s an article about the extreme health benefits of juicing fruits and vegetables.  It includes anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, and even anti-constipationing (I made that word up, no really) benefits.

Galina Kotlyar says:  This delicious wheatgrass cocktail is a lean, green healing machine.

Fresh squeezed vegetable juice can work miracles in the treatment of any disease.  The raw power of juice builds new healthy tissue, purifies the blood, removes waste from the large intestine, and rejuvenates the endocrine system.

People with chronic, debilitating disease should undertake first time juice therapy under the care of a qualified medical professional.

Galina’s Money Saving Tip: I usually purchase 10 pounds bag of organic carrots for juicing in Costco. I pay only $6.99 per bag, which is much cheaper than any health food store or farmers market.

Here are some of my favorite, very effective juice recipes:  (You gotta click here, yes you do.  You’ll find something yummy!)

Chamomile, Lavender, Catnip, California Poppy, Milky Oat Tops (or oatstraw)….mmmmmmmm, I’m feeling better already.  Just the sound of these names brings healing vibes.  Another win for Nature!

A lovely natural recipe from the same website:

Here’s one of my all-time favorite blends for neutralizing stress.  I use this for occasional stress, as well as a treatment for my own insomnia when it rears its ugly head.

Evening Blessing™ herbal blend

4 parts California poppy blossoms
4 parts milky oat tops
3 parts lemon balm
2 parts red clover
2 parts licorice
1 part meadowsweet
1 part chamomile

Combine and use 1 tablespoon of herbs to 1 cup boiling water.  Cover, and let steep for 15-20 minutes.  Sweeten if desired (an excellent time for that lavender honey I mentioned!).

Drink 2-3 cups per day for stress relief, and 1-2 cups before bedtime to aid sleep.

“The Habit” by Susan Morse

My mother recommended this as a must read recently.  A few reasons why:  She sees herself in Susan’s elderly mother.  She sees me in Susan.  It is a seriously entertaining book.  And Susan is an excellent writer.

Things to remember:  Life is not a bowl of cherries – or maybe it is, watch out for the pits.  It could be a lot worse.  It isn’t ever over – as Susan’s mother says, “No one ever dies.”  And we will laugh like hell some day down the road – or not!

OMG, I just realized what the title means.  LOL.  Now I see myself as Susan’s mother, get ready kids!

Sooth the spirit, ease the muscles, calm the emotions…feel the flow of loving energy as it ebbs through your body, healing with each tone.  Wind and Wood.  Nature’s music.  Nature’s vibrations.  I find this to be a great centering tool.

Colors, like features, follow the changes of the emotions. – Pablo Picasso

Source:  Color Psychology

Do you feel anxious in a yellow room? Does the color blue make you feel calm and relaxed? Artists and interior designers have long understood how color can dramatically affect moods, feelings and emotions. It is a powerful communication tool and can be used to signal action, influence mood and cause physiological reactions. Certain colors can raise blood pressure, increase metabolism or cause eyestrain.

Of course, your feelings about color can also be deeply personal and are often rooted in your own experience or culture. For example, while the color white is used in many Western countries to represent purity and innocence, it is seen as a symbol of mourning in many Eastern countries.

Why is color such a powerful force in our lives? What effects can it have on our bodies and minds? Continue reading to further explore the history of color including how it’s used, the effects it may have and some of the most recent research on color psychology.

Second to the right, and then straight on till morning.

Wendy: Where do you live?
Peter: Second to the right, and then straight on till morning.

Source: weheartit.com via Leslee on Pinterest

Wendy: But, Peter, how do we get to Never Land?
Peter Pan: Fly, of course.
Wendy: Fly?
Peter Pan: It’s easy! All you have to do is to… is to… is to… Ha! That’s funny.
Wendy: What’s the matter? Don’t you know?
Peter Pan: Oh, sure. It’s… It’s just that I never thought about it before. Say, that’s it! You think of a wonderful thought.

And then we grow up and forget.  How could we?  Shouldn’t we remind ourselves magical moments still exist?  Open the window and let out our inner child?

What a wonderful thought!

Revitalize – Relax, Refill, Renew

Source: google.com via Yvonne on Pinterest

The perfect “place” to go during meditation!  I have a place, it is partially described in my Guided Meditation.  But this photo is idyllic!  I love creating images like this for myself during my brief moments of being alone.

A good way to begin is by using EFT – Emotional Freedom Technique tapping.  Speak the mantra, “I deeply and profoundly love and accept myself,” as you tap at each point and begin building your sensory surroundings.  You can start with the feel of the warm salt breeze on your bare shoulders.  Move on to the smell of the air and the coconut oil lotion that is being smoothed on your arms as your Spirit Guide massages the tension away.  The soft table supports your body comfortably.  You hear the sound of light wavelets as they gently splash at the pilings supporting the wooden dock where you are safe and at ease.  You see the boards running evenly in a diminishing pattern on up the dock.  Your mind is resting and the wafting of the hems of the white curtains is reassuring at the edge of your vision.

You can come as often as you like; you can stay as long as you are led.  This place is yours.  It belongs to you and is your safe place, your resting place.  God loves you, you love yourself, you are surrounded by peace and love.  Here you experience a clarity of thought beyond what you have ever known.  Answers come easily.  Direction is clear.  Purpose is plain and simple.  You are grateful.

Remembering to breathe deeply, you return to your current affairs;  the slight salty air still fills your nostrils; the warmth of the breeze and massage still stimulates your skin.

You are revitalized – relaxed, refilled, renewed.

Serving others

I just had to share this recent email with you.  I changed some of the details that didn’t sit well with me.  What I am impressed with are the ways of helping ourselves I never thought of.  I mean, I have thought of giving service gifts, but never from the point of view that it is a financially healthy prospect for our country.

I hope you find this as encouraging as I have.  You can add your ideas in at the end like I did.  Fun!

As the holidays approach, factories in other countries are kicking into high gear to provide Americans with monstrous piles of cheaply produced goods. This year we can do things differently. This year Americans can give the gift of genuine concern for other Americans. There is no longer an excuse that, at gift giving time, nothing can be found that is produced by American hands. Yes there is!

It’s time to think outside the box, people. Who says a gift needs to fit in a shirt box, wrapped in wrapping paper made in another country?

Nearly everyone gets a hair cut. How about gift certificates from your local American hair salon or barber?

Gym membership? It’s appropriate for all ages who are thinking about some health improvement.

Who wouldn’t appreciate getting his car detailed? Small, American owned detail shops and car washes would love to sell you a gift certificate or a book of gift certificates.

Are you one of those extravagant givers who think nothing of plunking down the Benjamins on a flat-screen made somewhere else? Perhaps that grateful gift receiver would like his driveway sealed, or lawn mowed for the summer, or driveway plowed all winter, or games at the local golf course.

There are a bazillion owner-run restaurants — all offering gift certificates. And, if your intended isn’t the fancy eatery sort, what about a half dozen breakfasts at the local breakfast joint. Remember, folks this isn’t about big National chains — this is about supporting your home town Americans with their financial lives on the line to keep their doors open.

How many people could use an oil change for their car, truck or motorcycle, done at a shop run by the American working guy?

Thinking about a heartfelt gift for mom? Mom would love the services of a local cleaning company for a day.

My computer could use a tune-up, and I know I can find some young techie who is struggling to get a repair business up and running.

OK, you were looking for something more personal. Local crafts people spin their own wool and knit it into scarves. They make jewelry, and pottery and beautiful wooden boxes.

Plan your holiday outings at local, owner operated restaurants and leave your server a nice tip. And, how about going out to see a play or ballet at your hometown theater?

Musicians need love too, so find a venue showcasing local bands.

Honestly, do you really need to buy another ten thousand foreign made lights for the house?  When you buy a five dollar string of light, about fifty cents stays in the community. If you have those kinds of bucks to burn, leave the mailman, trash guy or babysitter a nice big tip.

You see, the holidays are about caring about us, encouraging American small businesses to keep plugging away to follow their dreams. And, when we care about other Americans, we care about our communities, and the benefits come back to us in ways we couldn’t imagine. This can be the new American holiday tradition.

I do have another two cents worth…  If there is no money to be spreading around this holiday season, even for services, why not exchange the labor with  others?  If you don’t know how to do something, but can do something else , why not trade off with someone who can do what you cannot?  I’ll weed your mom’s flower bed if you cut my mom’s hair…  If you know how, that is!  I’ll draw your dog’s portrait if you do my year end taxes.  Sounds doable!
